Partnering with Picturehouse Cinemas
We’ve partnered with Picturehouse Cinemas since 2008 raising over £200,000 and bringing life-changing, safe water to over 727,500 people in Africa.
The programme so far has installed water pumps in villages and ensured schools in the area have sanitation facilities with safe water supplies. Picturehouse also help us to respond when families needed it most.
Their support contributed to emergency relief for over 250,000 people affected by the food crisis in Niger, the Typhoon in the Philippines, and communities in Ethiopia affected by drought.
Bringing safe water to the poorest communities
As part of our partnership, Picturehouse Cinemas supported our clean water programmes with their own branded water bottles.
10p from every bottle of water bought at a Picturehouse Cinema was donated to Plan International from 2008-2016.
Partnership highlights
All hail the Queen of Katwe
For International Day of the Girl, Plan International UK held an exclusive screening of Disney’s new film, the Queen of Katwe, in Picturehouse Central, in association with our partners Picturehouse.
Lupita Nyong’o, one of the film's stars, was one of the guests and introduced the film, championing the need to empower girls.
Bringing real change to young people
For more than eight years Picturehouse cinemas and members around the country have supported Plan International in a whole host of ways from marathons, to auctioning cinema seats, popcorn challenges and fundraising weekends.
From 2016 Picturehouse and Plan International will be working together to raise awareness and funds to make a difference for girls around the world and in the UK.
"Cinema is a universal language in bringing the world together, and working with Plan International allows us to unite together so we can bring real change to young people around the world."
