Children in Brazil explore climate change
Plan has been encouraging youngsters from one of Brazil’s poorest areas to prepare for the future by looking at the impact of global warming.
Children from Plan-supported Cabo de Santo Agostinho in Pernambuco concentrated on the topic of “The Earth” during the nation’s fourth national Technology Week.
They discussed the impact global warming will have on the north-east of Brazil, much of which is swamp, on both human habitation and the animals and plants that also live there.
Nine-year-old Carla Lima said: “I learned many things about nature and how can I care for it. Now I am more aware.”
More than 400 towns and cities, and around 1300 research and teaching institutions, non-governmental organisations, companies and schools across the country took part in science-based activities during the week.
