What is CAP’s role within Plan UK?

CAP’s mission statement reads:

“We are here to inform and raise awareness about the issues surrounding children, about Plan and its work and
about what can be done to change things in the world.

We also need to teach ourselves about the issues
surrounding children and about Plan and its work.”

Nia said, "I have been very fortunate and I would like other children to have the same chance as me. I feel that joining CAP allows me to help children."

Katie said, "I want to help make a change...children deserve to voice their views!"

How does this work?

CAP is currently a group of 9 members from all over the UK aged 12-17. We have on board 6 girls and 3 boys: Alia, Amba, Durgha, Elly, Katie, Kurtis, Maurice, Nia & Olivia.

Every 2-3 months Plan organises fun workshops for CAP and chats with them about issues Plan is working on as well as topics in development that interest them. It’s a great opportunity to hear young people’s views on what we are doing, and have them feed into it to show us how it’s best done! It also gives members a chance to influence plans at government level so that they can push home the importance of young people having a say in decisions that affect them.
