How do we go about realising our vision
We believe the answer lies in building the foundations for long-term improvements in the lives of children and the communities in which they live. It’s a process that can only work effectively at what we call the ‘grassroots’ level, out in the field, in the communities where we work.
Our projects can be successful only with the full participation of the people our work benefits: local families, community groups and, of course, the children themselves; they know best and understand their challenges.
Plan's local workers and volunteers are familiar with the area and the issues local people face and are committed to working there for long periods – usually 10 to 12 years – to achieve long-term change.
Each year, Plan funds more than 20,000 new projects and thousands of on-going ones. Our projects can be grouped into five key domains of work:
