Cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats, Lily and Michelle have so far raised £1048 for Plan. Here is Lily Dyu's report:
"Averaging 90 miles each day and 10-12 hours in the saddle, the trip was a blur of tarmac, iPod tunes, guest houses, wonderful scenery, and pounds and pounds of bananas. We were constantly amazed how much ground we could cover in a day and I'd never imagined that 6-ish days of cycling from Cornwall could find us in Gretna for a lunch of broth and butteries!
"My low point was riding a stretch of the A46 outside Bath as we made for Gloucester. Lying in bed that night my heart was still pounding with adrenaline and my head filled with images of articulated lorries thundering past my right shoulder !
"North of Preston the roads were quieter and drivers more tolerant and it was wonderful to ride through the Lake District, beautiful Glencoe and the Great Glen (gorgeous even in an April downpour). The last day's ride along the coast up to John O'Groats was an unexpected treat in spring sunshine, with sweeping climbs next to a glassy sea and abandoned crofts."
Lily and Michelle have requested that half the funds they raised will be spent on rehabilitation projects in earthquake affected communities in Pakistan and the other half split between three projects in Cambodia, the Philippines and Indonesia.
