What can you deliver for Plan?

We wanted a ready-made, costed project, showing exactly where the money would go - it's what business people understand. And that's just what Plan gave us. Not all charities can.

We work with children and their communities for between 10 and 15 years. This long-term approach allows us to thoroughly understand the communities we work with, and the issues affecting their lives, thereby helping them find their own development solutions and ensure children have a better star in life.

Companies like yours can work hand in hand with Plan to help in this well needed development.

A school

The British Education Suppliers Association (BESA), an industry-funded trade association whose 300 member companies took a Plan school project to their hearts.

With its collapsing roofs, the village school in Nasureedeen, Ghana, was dangourously run-down as well as under-equipped. Two years later, there are six new, bright and airy classrooms, proper school furniture, a library and two latrine blocks, providing a safe and healthy learning environment for 150 children.

Giving children the opportunities they need begins with the basics. Your support can help build schools, train teachers, provide books and equipment - giving them access to choices their parents never had, and a real chance to transform their futures.

Water

In the Tillaber region of Niger, most girls are bound to the hard, relentless and daily work of collecting water for their families from unsafe wells miles away. It keeps them from attending school and the filthy water is one of the reasons why Niger has one of the highest rates of child mortality in the world.

Capital International, a global investment management company is helping to change this for Goulbal village, a community of 2,500 people. By funding a borehole and pump Capital International gave more families access to safe, local water - and give their girls more time for school.

Having clean, safe water helps children escape the stranglehold of poverty and illness. By supporting a water project with Plan you can help free them from the backbreaking work of fetching water and prevent fatal diseases like cholera.

Nutrition

Courgettes, tomatoes and watermelons are helping children in the mountainous Chalatenango region of El Salvador to grow up healthy and helping them lean new ways to make a living - thanks to Elior UK, on of the country's leading contract caterers.

Chalatenango has poor soil and very limited agriculture. By raising funds to create organic vegetable gardens in 26 rural schools, along with cooking and storage areas, Elior UK has ensured that 3,500 children eat at least one balanced mean a day. And as the children learn how to grow food in a way that protects and restores their environment, they're gaining skills they can use for life.

In the world's poorest countries, children often go hungry. With Plan, you can help people to grow nutritious food, improve health, look after their environment and build important lige skills for the future - with something as simple as a vegetable garden
