Plan UK’s Youth Advisory Panel (YAP)
Plan UK’s Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) is a group of young people aged 13-18 who offer Plan an invaluable youth perspective. YAP puts young people’s voices at the heart of Plan’s work, because they have ideas, experience and, needless to say, know more about childhood than adults. Their input can help Plan to understand how to work with the young people whose lives it aims to improve.

Being an experienced youth board, YAP members are able to raise awareness among their peers in the UK on issues that affect ALL young people, like climate change, and support them to campaign to make the world a nicer, fairer place to live.
Our mission statement reads:
“We are here to inform and raise awareness about the issues surrounding children, about Plan and its work and about what can be done to change things in the world. We also need to teach ourselves about the issues surrounding children and about Plan and its work.”
Our key activities are:
- Raising awareness of development through peer education
- Campaign action through peer education
- Engagement of young people in decision making processes
