Thanks to your support, we have had shown the government the importance of educating girls.
Recently, a group of young people handed in a petition to No.10 Downing Street asking the Government to make sure that girls in war-zones have the same opportunities to go to school as boys (find out more).
Now the Government is sitting up and taking notice. The Department for International Development (DFID) recently published a draft strategy paper on education in developing countries. Gender and education in conflict zones is a top priority! See below for the three objectives of the strategy or herefor the full paper.
Focus on access and gender equality especially in conflict and fragile situations
Improving the quality of education
Strengthening the links between schools, skills and employment
But there is still more work to do. Girls are often forgotten after primary school. We want to make sure that teenage girls, including those in war zones, are not left out.
