'Dancing on Ice' star Zaraah Abrahams has become a new celebrity ambassador for the Because I Am A Girl campaign.
Zaraah played factory girl Joanne in Coronation Street for three years and can currently be seen as Michaela in Waterloo Road.
She said of her involvement, 'I had always wanted the chance to work closely with a child-centred charity and I especially liked the idea that through sponsorship you can establish a one-to-one relationship.
'The character I played in Coronation Street had fled the war in Liberia and this is partly the reason I chose to support Plan's work there.
'I'm really honoured that Plan UK have asked me to become an ambassador for the Because I Am A Girl campaign.'
