Beat the Clock

Together we can Beat the Clock

Let's start now.

Countdown clock showing how long until we can achieve equality

Alana, 12, Brazil, shares her passionate belief in equal opportunities with her younger sister Analice.

Why this matters

“It will take 131 years to achieve gender equality. People need to know about this,” says 12-year-old Alana from Brazil.

At the current rate of progress, generations of girls will be unable to access their rights. Unable go to school, finish school, feel safe and be in control of their own bodies. Held back by outdated stereotypes and unfair expectations. They will not have equal opportunities to reach their potential and choose their own futures.

Change isn't coming fast enough, and girls like Alana have had enough.

“We need to change the current situation and strive for gender equality. It will be difficult but we have to keep our heads.”

We all have a part to play
